Volunteers needed

Can you spare some time to help get food to people who need it over the summer?

COVID-19 is affecting us all in different ways. Some people are experiencing extreme hardship and have no means of help in accessing food.

We are seeking volunteer drivers and packers to get food to where it’s needed.

You will become part of our Community Food Distribution Project, which is a partnership between local communities and public/voluntary sector organisations. The Project has delivered thousands of food parcels, and would now like your help in reaching the most vulnerable people in our communities.

Volunteers needed in the Dunoon and Oban areas

  • Drivers – up to 9 hours in a day, 1 to 4 days a week. You need to have been driving for a minimum of 2 years and be over 21 and be physically fit to load vans and deliver parcels.
  • Packers/Pickers – up to 6 hours a day, 1 to 2 days a week. You need to be fairly fit with good stamina and be at least 18 to work unsupervised.
  • Co-ordinator – up to 35 hours a week, can be based anywhere.  You need to have strong interpersonal skills and good data collection skills.  You need to be able to multi-task and think logically, follow up on things and have community experience.

All roles are needed until 14th August 2020.

If you can spare some time to help we’d love to hear from you.  You don’t have to commit to the full hours, even if you could do a day or two a week that would help.

If you are a Council employee who can spare some time over the summer holidays please fill in this form /forms/redeployment .

If you are a member of the public or work for LiveArgyll please fill in this form /forms/volunteer .

If you are available some of the time but can’t commit to certain weeks or days, please say that you can work with restrictions and then tell us when you aren’t available.

Thank you for supporting Argyll and Bute.
