Argyll and Bute remains popular film location

Argyll and Bute Council is reminding people about the area’s popularity as a prime filming location, after the government announced a £500 million scheme to help kickstart film companies struggling due to Covid 19.

A number of high profile film and television productions have been filmed in Argyll and Bute in recent years, as well as various documentaries, adverts and other productions. The area’s stunning landscape is also continuing to attract fashion photoshoots, with Urban Outfitters and Stella McCartney just two who have recently visited.

Argyll and Bute Council’s Policy Lead for Economic Growth, Councillor Alastair Redman, said: “We are fully committed to promoting Argyll and Bute as a desirable location for film crews from across the world. With so much diverse, natural beauty all around us, it is no wonder that more and more companies are choosing to come here.

“We have a dedicated website, www.filminargyll.co.uk, which provides information to anyone considering Argyll and Bute as a set location, and we have an extensive online directory of photographs of potential film locations ranging from mansions, castles, beaches and spectacular vistas.

“We’ve also seen a huge rise in members of the public and community groups coming forward to register their property for filming, which is great. This enables us to offer an even wider range of unique locations for projects.

“Not only do these filming opportunities provide a welcome financial boost to the area, it also helps to promote the area to a larger audience and lets people see how stunning Argyll and Bute is.”
