What is The Argyll and Bute Youth Forum?
Argyll and Bute Youth Forum is our area wide youth forum, that is youth led and open to all young people aged 12 - 25 and allows them the opportunity to feed into the democratic process at a local, national and international level. Young people cannot vote till their 18th birthday but that does not stop them expressing their views on any issues that are important to them. Argyll and Bute Youth Forum provides young people the opportunity to be an active citizen within their local communities.
What They Do
The aim of the Youth Forum is to give young people more influence with local politicians and councillors. It will give young people the chance to contribute to decisions made about service developments and how money is spent on children and young people’s services in Argyll and Bute.
The main issues identified by young people were:
Transport, Places to Meet, Travel Opportunities, Alcohol and Drugs, Leisure, Youth Representation, Funding, Housing, The Environment, Youth Information.
