The presence of rodent or insect pests often causes embarrassment and distress and can lead to loss of business, goodwill, and reputation.  These pests can also contaminate food and add a high risk of contracting food poisoning from their infestation.

The section consists of four highly trained and Qualified Pest Control Technicians, one based in each of the four Council areas covering all of Argyll and Bute.   The unit is closely linked to the Public Protection section of Argyll and Bute Council to provide more comprehensive advice on Environmental Health issues.  Our Pest Technicians are trained in a wide variety of pest eradication work including moles and rabbit problems in both commercial and private land.  There are charges for the Pest Control Service, and payment can be made over the telephone by phoning 01546 605515, or if you prefer visit you local Customer Service Point. There is an additional charge for credit card payments of 1.89% of the value of the transaction. 

Domestic Pest Control Charges

Please note that payment for these services must be made in advance. In treatments where several visits are required for completion of a treatment or the use of additional expensive poisons are required such as for mole, rabbit, bedbug and cockroach treatments, supplementary charges may be levied.  Where this is the case the client will be advised of the extra cost accordingly.  This is relevant for domestic, commercial and council properties.

Food Premises

You are required by law to inform your Local Authority of the presence of rats or mice on your property and that all insect infestations should also be reported if present in food related premises.

Commercial Work

We tender for all types of Pest Control work in the commercial sector.  Our Pest Technician will visit your property, survey the area and discuss your requirements.  Then within fourteen days you will be provided with a written quotation detailing the cost of the treatment you require.  However, if you do not wish to sign into a contract we are more than willing to treat on a visit basis for each job.  If you require further information on Commercial Contracts or would like an estimate for work please contact John Downie by email at John.Downie@argyll-bute.gov.uk
