Summary :

Using the Assessment of Care toolkit in universal services to help you identify neglect and thresholds for SW referral

Venue:

Online Via Microsoft Teams

Area:

This series of 6, one hour monthly workshops are open to people working with children and families from all agencies, with the aim of increasing people’s confidence in using these risk assessment tools in their practice. The workshops are led by practitioners from education, health, third sector and social work, who bring working knowledge and expertise of these tools and will talk participants through:

  • How and when to use the tool to assess strengths and pressures, needs and risks.
  • How they help inform understanding of children’s lives in relation to growing and developing, the care they receive from parents and carers, and the environments in which they live.
  • How to document the use & analysis of the tool
  • Useful advice, hints and tips for others embarking on using the tools

Prior to attending participants are asked to complete the related e-learning module or read the toolkit so you come with the knowledge of what the tool is for and how it works as this isn’t covered in the session. You can book online at CPC Inter-agency Training (argyll-bute.gov.uk) or email cpctraining@argyll-bute.gov.uk with your name, contact details and date & title of the workshop/s you wish to attend

Using the Assessment of Care toolkit in universal services to help you identify neglect and thresholds for social work referral

Whilst this toolkit is designed for health and social work professionals to use with parents/carers to assess their capacity to meet their child’s needs, it is also a useful tool for practitioners in universal services to develop a shared understanding and language around neglect and help you answer your 5 GIRFEC questions where neglect features: What is getting in the way of this child or young person’s wellbeing?  Do I have all the information I need to help this child or young person? What can I do now to help this child or young person? What can my agency do to help this child or young person? What additional help, if any, may be needed from others?

Attend having read & become familiar with the content of the Assessment of Care toolkit: ab_care_assessment_toolkit_0.pdf (argyll-bute.gov.uk)
