This series of 6, one hour monthly workshops are open to people working with children and families from all agencies, with the aim of increasing people’s confidence in using these risk assessment tools in their practice. The workshops are led by practitioners from education, health, third sector and social work, who bring working knowledge and expertise of these tools and will talk participants through:

  • How and when to use the tool to assess strengths and pressures, needs and risks.
  • How they help inform understanding of children’s lives in relation to growing and developing, the care they receive from parents and carers, and the environments in which they live.
  • How to document the use & analysis of the tool
  • Useful advice, hints and tips for others embarking on using the tools

Prior to attending participants are asked to complete the related e-learning module or read the toolkit so you come with the knowledge of what the tool is for and how it works as this isn’t covered in the session. Using the Risk Indicator Sheets from the National Risk Framework

These 3 risk indicator sheets are designed to support and assist practitioners at all levels, in every agency, both individually and collectively, to approach the task of risk identification, assessment, and analysis with more confidence and competence. Evidence from audits have shown that when these risk indicators sheets are used in practice they support not only better understanding of risk and its presentation with children and families, but also enhances interventions and outcomes. The three tools covered in this workshop are the:

-          Generic risk indicator sheet
