East Clyde Street in Helensburgh remains closed to traffic and pedestrians in both directions between Sinclair Street and Maitland Street due to concerns over the condition of a vacant building. The closure has been in place from 30th May.
Update - 24th August
On Friday 10th August Building Standards instructed a Council approved contractor to carry out the necessary works to make the gable of the building safe which would then allow the road and footpaths to be re-opened.
The contractor took possession of the site on Wednesday 15th August with a schedule to complete the works by week ending 21st September.
The works are progressing on site as per the schedule and the contractor advises that they are currently still on course for a completion date of Friday 21st September, following shortly thereafter by the re-opening of the road.
All of our servicepoints, libraries, halls, theatres and sports centres are currently open for business.

Due to adverse weather conditions and limited ferry services, we have been unable to transport our replacement bin lorry to Islay in time for recycling and refuse collections on our restricted access routes on Islay, scheduled for 17th and 18th September. It is hoped that the lorry will be able to catch up on missed collections by the end of this week or early next week. Please leave your bins out for collection.

PLEASE NOTE: In light of the news about Greenlight Environmental entering administration, we can confirm that we already have alternative plans in place and there will be no impact on our refuse collection service anywhere in Argyll and Bute.
