Argyll and Bute Local Access Forum

Act logoArgyll and Bute Local Access Forum was established in the summer of 2006. The Forum has a pivotal role to play in helping with the future development and management of outdoor access in Argyll and Bute.  The Forum was involved in establishing the Argyll & The Isles Coast & Countryside Trust (ACT) whose role is to maintain, enhance and promote the coast and countryside of Argyll and the Isles, so it can be enjoyed by residents, businesses and visitors forevermore.  The Access Team now work closely with ACT on a range of projects.

The Forum is an independent strategic body with an operational remit that covers the whole of Argyll with the exception of The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Argyll and Bute Access ForumMembership of the Forum comprises of representatives of land managers, access users, public agencies and communities all of whom have considerable experience of the many issues that arise.

The Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 requires every Access Authority to establish a Forum which has a statutory duty to advise the Council and any other interested party on matters relating to outdoor access within its area of operation.  This can include advice regarding the exercise of access rights, responsible behaviour and it is open to any individual or organisation to seek their advice.
