Argyll and Bute Council has agreed that the Finalised Helensburgh Pierhead Masterplan will go out for a further 28 days’ public consultation. The consultation will began at 9 am on 3rd September 2012, and finished at 5 pm on 1st October 2012.
This finalised plan reflects the views of 1,200 people who responded during an initial consultation which ran from December 2011 to January 2012. The scale of changes proposed for the pierhead meant that a further round of public consultation would be necessary.
Lead Councillor for Development, Environment and Infrastructure John Semple said, “The council’s proposals for Helensburgh’s pierhead are key in the development of Argyll and Bute’s largest town, and its position gives it a very high profile.
“The people who felt strongly enough to express their views during the earlier consultation have helped shape this further draft. It includes major changes to the original proposals for retail, residential and leisure facilities, and reflects the power a community has to influence major development proposals.
“This has been a successful consultation process so far, with the views of the community being taken on board to shape the new proposals. Hopefully there will be the same keen level of interest in this further consultation.”
The Finalised Pierhead Masterplan reflects the views of the previous consultation concerning the draft Pierhead masterplan and recent council decisions concerning the capital programme.
