The Campbeltown to Ardrossan ferry service is to be extended by one day this season. The last sailing of the service will be on Sunday 29th September.
Chair of the recently established Kintyre Ferry Group, South Kintyre Councillor John Semple, welcomed the move saying
“While this is only a small measure it means that anyone travelling to or from Kintyre for the September holiday weekend will be able to return on the Sunday - weather permitting of course.
“The ferry group will be working with Calmac and the Scottish Government to look at how the service can be improved for next year. We are keen to see how we can increase the number of visitors coming to Kintyre by ferry and to encourage joint marketing arrangements between businesses and Calmac to the mutual advantage of all concerned.
“I will be meeting with Transport Scotland and Calmac shortly and would be keen to hear views from businesses and individuals on the first season of the service.”
