Investment announced in MAKI’s economy

The council has agreed an investment of £600,000 in boosting the economy across Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands. The investment comes from the council’s share of Scottish Crown Estate funding, for projects designed to support the economy and lifestyle in communities across the area. Argyll and Bute Council has announced a £600,000 boost for the local economy in Helensburgh and Lomond. Council tax freeze and investment for the future

Argyll and Bute Council has set a budget that freezes council tax in 2021/22 and invests millions in helping local people, businesses and the area as a whole to move on from the impact of covid-19. Council Leader, Councillor Robin Currie said: “We are investing nearly £6.8 million to help Argyll and Bute keep going and keep growing. This budget takes on the unprecedented day-to-day and longer term challenges of living through a worldwide pandemic.

Time running out to register to vote in council by-elections

There’s just a few days left to register to vote for people living in the Isle of Bute or Helensburgh and Lomond South council wards, where by-elections will take place on 18 March. It’s never too early to register to vote, but the deadline for these local elections is Tuesday 2 March – so, if you want to have your say in who represents your community, it’s worth taking a few minutes to make sure you can take part.

  The fund is open to any small businesses and the self-employed based in Argyll and Bute who have suffered from the impacts of the pandemic and who have been ineligible for any COVID-19 related business support funds launched since 1 October 2020.   Applicants must:

Campbeltown wins Scotland’s most improved place

Campbeltown has won Scotland’s most improved place in the 2020 SURF Awards. The award recognises best practice in community regeneration and is the result of an extensive regeneration programme by Argyll and Bute Council and its key partners.  The appearance and vibrancy of Campbeltown’s town centre has been significantly improved with investment of £13 million to repair over 40 buildings, improve shopfronts and deliver parallel projects. They include:
