Shoppers travelling to and from Glasgow and beyond this festive season have the option of an additional, safe area to board and alight from the Citylink services 926 Glasgow – Campbeltown and and 976 Glasgow - Oban.

A newly created bus shelter and turning circle at the apex of the Rest and Be Thankful on the A83 Glasgow – Campbeltown has provided residents in Lochgoilhead and Carrick Castle, as well the large number of visitors to Drimsynie Estate Holiday Village, easy access to Citylink coach services at this point.

The arrangement was prompted by approaches from the local community to reduce the distance required to be travelled to the nearest bus stops at Ardgartan or Cairndow.

The creation of the off-road turning area provides a safe area for passengers boarding alighting, and the adjacent car park allows travellers to be picked up and dropped off by car.

Argyll and Bute Council received £370,000 funding for the project through successful bids to both Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and the Scottish Government’s Bus Investment Fund.
