Strike action 24th November - Important information for parents and carers

Published Date:

18 Nov 2022 - 09:20

We can confirm that all our schools will be closed to pupils next Thursday 24th of November.

This is due to the anticipated number of teaching staff that could be on strike.

There will be no on-line learning available that day in line with rules associated with strike action. Those families entitled to free school meals through financial eligibility criteria will receive a payment in lieu of their entitlement for this day and this will be paid directly into your bank account over the course of next week.

Nursery provision will operate as normal in all establishments with the exception of the follow settings:

  • Arinagour
  • Easdale
  • Kilmodan
  • Kilchattan
  • Rhunahaorine
If your child attends one of these settings for their nursery provision then they will be unable to attend on Thursday 24th of November and you should make alternative childcare arrangements.

While the council has been formally notified by trade unions of their intention to strike, there is still a possibility that through negotiations at a national level, that the strike may not take place.

If this is the case then we will be in touch via our normal channels.

We appreciate that this is inconvenient for families and hope that this advance notice will allow you to make appropriate alternative childcare arrangements more easily.
