A bright, contemporary and accessible gateway to Oban Town Centre with more people choosing to shop local – that is the vision behind Argyll and Bute Council’s planned improvement works to Gibraltar Street, due to start early 2023.

An online consultation is now open and available on the council website https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/consultations/gibraltar-street. Have your say on proposed improvements, aimed at drawing more people into the town centre to support local businesses.

The proposed work includes improving the pedestrian path to make it accessible for all, new and improved signage, seating and planting. The online consultation will close on Wednesday 23 November.

As part of the consultation, a public event will take place on Tuesday 22 November at Gibraltar Street from 11am – 3pm. The plans will be on display with opportunities to comment.

Argyll and Bute is leading on the £260, 0000 project using funding from the Scottish Government’s Place Based Investment Programme, including a £10k contribution from Bid4Oban. It is one of five projects taking place across Argyll and Bute to help support ongoing economic recovery from the pandemic.
