This year Christmas and New Year holidays are at the weekend so there will be no changes to bin collections over the festive period.
Please put out your household waste and recycling as normal on the days that your bins are usually collected.
There are things you can do to help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill over this busy time.
You can put paper, card, cans and plastic bottles/tubs/pots/trays in your recycling bins or bags. Please remember to rinse out the cans and plastics. Many types of Christmas paper and cards can also be recycled.
Unfortunately we can’t recycle anything covered in glitter or foil-based paper. If you want to check if the paper is foil, scrunch the paper up. If it springs back, then please put it in the general waste bin.
Our recycling centres will be closed on 25/26 December and 1 /2 January. You can find a full list of centres on our website.
Residents who want to recycle their Christmas trees can take them to our household waste and recycling centres at the end of the season.
You can download 2022 bin collection calendars from the council website.
We are very grateful that few people now request printed calendars - this allows us to direct scarce resources to vital services and saves paper. If you are unable to access the internet, you can check your next bin uplift day by calling 01546 605514 and pressing option 2 for a 24/7 response. If necessary, you can request one printed calendar for your household by calling 01546 605514 and choosing option 3 to ask for a printed copy. Please remember, staff are mostly working from home so it may take two to three weeks before someone is in the office to print out a calendar to send it to you.
You can find more information about rubbish and recycling, including what happens to the materials you recycle, on the council website.
