Members of the public have a chance to own a unique piece of Kintyre civic history, before surplus furniture from Campbeltown Town Hall is put under the hammer.

20 wooden desks and 24 wood and red leather chairs, which are no longer used by the council since the town hall was refurbished, are being made available to buy. Each desk costs £70 and each chair £15. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Campbeltown Common Good Fund to be used for the benefit of the local community.

The furniture will be available to view and purchase at the Aqualibrium on Friday, 3rd November 2017 (from 1pm until 7pm) and Saturday, 4th November 2017 (from 11am until 4pm). Buyers can make the appropriate payment to the Aqualibrium, with each item being sold as seen and the purchaser responsible for taking away the pieces of furniture.

Any unsold desks and chairs will then be sold at public auction.

Councillor Robin Currie, chair of the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islands Area Committee, said: “The sale is an ideal opportunity for residents to own a small piece of Campbeltown history and help make a difference to their local community with proceeds going to the Common Good Fund.”
