Children are being invited to visit Bessie the Play, Talk and Read bus as she makes her way across various towns in Argyll and Bute next week.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to join in the fun with lots of free songs, stories and play sessions as part of the Scottish Government's Play, Talk and Read campaign.

Argyll and Bute Council's Policy Lead for Education, Councillor Yvonne McNeilly, said: "We want to ensure that our young people have the very best start in life and are ready to succeed. This initiative contributes to that.

“Playing, talking and reading together has a number of benefits and can have a huge impact on children’s development. Not only that, but the bus is also an opportunity for parents to meet up with others and provide young people with the chance to mix with other children the same age.

“Visiting the bus is completely free and I would urge people to go along and make the most of this great opportunity.”
