Argyll and Bute Council’s roads staff in Oban are extremely grateful to members of the public for their patience whilst essential roadworks were carried out recently in the Soroba Road area.

The road surface in Soroba Road, Lynn road and Miller Road, has been deteriorating for some time and, whilst a number of temporary repairs have been carried out over the years, a more permanent solution was necessary.

A sum of £59,000 was allocated to the project and 500 square metres of road has now been resurfaced and re-lined as a result. Drainage grills were upgraded, damaged kerbing was replaced and the footpaths were resurfaced.

The Council’s Policy Lead for Roads and Amenity Services, Councillor Roddy McCuish: “This area has been deteriorating for some time, so the improvements have been extremely welcome. The public have been very understanding throughout the whole process and the staff involved have done a great job in getting the work completed on time.”

Councillor Elaine Robertson, Chair of the Oban, Lorn and the Isles Area Committee, said: “The Area Committee is very appreciative of the patience and forbearance shown by motorists whilst the work was carried out and we would like to thank staff from the council’s road department for their excellent work.”
