Independent board members are being sought for the new Argyll and Bute Library and Leisure Charitable Trust (CT).
Following a decision last year to transfer Argyll and Bute Council’s library, sport and leisure services to a CT, plans are progressing well. As a result, three independent board members are now being recruited to help set up the new charitable company, provide advice and support the trust’s management team.
The Council’s Policy Lead for Community and Culture, Councillor Robin Currie said: “These are vital services, not only in terms of improving the health and fitness of our residents, but also in terms of mental wellbeing. They are social places where people gather and are extremely important to our residents. This is a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to join the board and help shape their future.
“We want the trust to be acknowledged and respected as the leading organisation in its field. We want it to progress the business in a sustainable way, by providing high quality services that the public value and trust. The trust need board members who can deliver this.
“The majority of local authorities have now transferred these services to a trust and it has proved extremely successful and beneficial.”
