LOCAL residents with a private water supply are being reminded that the council’s Environmental Health team offers a testing service.
Residents may need their private supply tested for a number of reasons, including when selling a house.
Requests for tests can be made and paid for using the council website.
The service provides both a routine and an enhanced test depending on the householder’s need.
Following the test, results are emailed or posted and will include whether the private supply has passed or failed and appropriate advice will be given.
Once a request has been submitted, the Environmental Health team will be in touch within five days to arrange access, with the aim of carrying out the test within the next 10 days. Microbiological results could be received within 72 hours, with chemical results taking up to six weeks.
Full details and the application form can be found here.
