A number of communities across Argyll and Bute look set to benefit from improved sports facilities.
At a meeting of Argyll and Bute Council held yesterday (Thursday, 20 April 2017), members agreed to invest funding in seven 3G pitches in the area and transfer them over to the new leisure Charitable Trust.
The council currently maintains a several pitches across Argyll and Bute. However, the six concerned are not currently covered by the existing maintenance and management arrangements, and are in need of repair and refurbishment.
A tender process will take place, following which improvement works will begin. The pitches will then be transferred over to the new trust. The transfer means the pitches will be maintained on an ongoing basis and a team will be established to undertake this work.
This team will operate on a commercial basis, bidding for additional work and therefore creating extra revenue.
The pitches are as follows:
Bendarroch Park, Garelochhead
Tobermory, King George v Park
The Cages, Black Park, Dunoon
Lochnell School, Benderloch
Tarbert Community Sport Project.
