The second Argyll Enterprise Week (AEW) will bring business support events to towns across Argyll in November.

Funding, exporting, and working digitally are some of the themes that will feature in AEW 2017, designed to connect, support and inform businesses.

The very first AEW took place last year and was hailed a success. More than 400 participants representing at least 150 businesses or organisations took part in events across the week, with attendees coming from across the area including Bute, Dunoon and Tiree.

The vast majority (97%) of businesses who gave feedback confirmed they had made new connections, 95% learned something new and 96% being were inspired by the event.

The Council’s Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee has agreed an approach that will see the public, the third and private sectors working together to design and deliver workshops for AEW 2017.

The event will once again be organised jointly by Argyll and Bute Council’s Business Gateway Team and Highlands and Island Enterprise (HIE).

Plans are being made to host events in Campbeltown, Oban, Helensburgh, Inveraray and Dunoon between Monday, 6th and Friday, 10th November 2017.

Fergus Murray, Head of Economic Development said:

“The response to Argyll’s first Enterprise Week in 2016 exceeded all expectations with more than 500 participants, and almost 100% positive feedback on the value of the event.

“There is clear demand for AEW to run again and we are developing AEW 2017 using feedback from the local business community.

“There are both opportunities and support for business success here in Argyll and Bute. AEW is about bringing expertise, information and inspiration together to help turn ambition into business growth.”

David Smart, head of special projects at HIE, said:

“We were absolutely delighted at the success of last year’s event and it’s great to be planning a follow up. This year will see the event extend its reach, with activities in five towns across Argyll. We look forward to working with Business Gateway and our partners in delivering another successful event for the Argyll business community.”

Information on AEW 2017 will be advertised nearer the time, as plans are confirmed.
