Argyll and Bute Council’s website attracted half a million visitors last year, with 45% of them using mobile devices.

This reflects the latest Ofcom national survey which shows a huge increase in internet access from mobile devices.

The council’s Policy Lead for IT services and customer support, Council Leader Dick Walsh, praised the work which has seen the authority’s website win four stars from the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm). He said, “The council has an award winning website fully accessible using mobile devices which has placed it in the top twenty local authority sites across the UK.

“The improved accessibility of the website allows us to reach more people and provide a fuller, more versatile service for people at home or on the move.

“The website is a window through which anyone in the world can view Argyll and Bute and the many and varied opportunities which show this area as a great place to live, work, visit and do business.”
