Argyll and Bute Council is holding a free business engagement event in Oban’s Corran Halls next Tuesday, 17th November, from 8.30am to 10am.

The event will give business people in and around Oban the opportunity to meet the council’s Head of Economic Development, Fergus Murray, and discuss the plans to grow the economy. It will also give people the chance to raise local business issues and get advice from the Business Gateway team.

Speaking ahead of the event, Fergus said: ‘’I’ll be giving a short presentation on the work of the council’s economic development team to grow our economy, particularly on recent research which we are using to identify the next steps.

‘’I’ll then have an open question and answer session followed by informal networking and discussion, with refreshments.

‘’I would encourage anyone interested in local business issues to get in touch on 01546 604 555 or by emailing to book a place.’’

Policy Lead for Sustainable Economic Growth, Councillor Aileen Morton, also encouraged business people to attend: ‘’This event will give people a great opportunity to find out more about what the council is doing to create more jobs and attract more people to the area, as well as finding out about the advice and support on offer from our Business Gateway team.

‘’Engaging with local businesses is a key part of our economic development strategy.’’
