Local charity act and Food from Argyll are incentivising local people to enjoy a picnic outdoors this summer by offering them a chance to win £100 to spend on enhancing their favourite picnic spot plus a hamper filled with local produce.
A large part of the work that act does encourages local people to enjoy the outdoors and the charity strives to come up with interesting ways to motivate the public to take ownership of the coast and countryside of Argyll and the Isles.
‘’The money is to be spent on making a positive difference to a place people love in Argyll” explains Julie Young, Development Officer for act. “Whether it’s to arrange a litter-pick, repair a bench or provide a bird table - we don’t mind as long as it enhances the area. We will be awarding twenty prizes of up to £100 to the people who give us the best suggestions and we’re really looking forward to hearing what people come up with.”
Food from Argyll is providing the ultimate prize – a picnic hamper filled with local produce from businesses in Argyll and the Isles. They’ll also be providing plenty of picnic tips via online channels including the best spots to visit and the best local food treats to enjoy along the way.
Katie Ritchie, from Food from Argyll, commented: “We were really keen to get involved in this project – not only is it such a positive cause but it also supports our main aim which is to encourage local people to enjoy local produce.”
The perfect picnic will run throughout the months of June, July and August. More information can be found at www.act-now.org.uk
