The Bute and Cowal Primary Schools annual update was presented to the area committee members at their meeting on Wednesday 11 June. It outlined teaching and learning across primary schools during the school year 2013/2014.

The Commonwealth Games sparked many projects, including an art project which had pupils creating a piece of cloth representing Scotland’s welcome to the Commonwealth and featured iconic images of Scotland.

Eco learning continued to prove a great success, with a number of primaries adding to and increasing the level of their eco awards and green flags.

Enthusiastic fund raising  saw contributions made to Mary’s Meals, Yorkhill Hospital, Marie Curie Cancer Care, and Children in Need, to name a few.

Insight into business and entrepreneurship were explored with the help of local businesses, and community links were further developed through the Forest Schools initiative, NHS Highland’s Healthy Hearts and Scottish Heritage.
