Argyll Voluntary Action is calling for nominations for Volunteer of The Year, with the deadline of 18 April fast approaching.

The theme this year is “the age of Integration” and celebrates the increased role the third sector is playing in supporting the delivery of public services in partnership with our health and social care partners.

Argyll and Bute Council’s Policy Lead for Community and Culture, Councillor Robin Currie, said, “I am happy to help raise awareness of this important annual event. The work of volunteers is immeasurable and this award ceremony goes some way towards highlighting their hard work and tireless commitment.

“There are six categories to choose from and I would urge you to make your nominations early.”

The categories are: Individual Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Voluntary /Community Group or Organisation of the Year, Social Enterprise Volunteer of the Year, Regional Timebank Heroes and Health Volunteer of the Year.

The award ceremony will take place on Friday 13 June 2014 in the Council Chambers at Kilmory.
