An audience of 40 attended the celebration of World Book Night on 23 April, when Argyll and Bute Council’s Adult Literacies Service and Oban Library hosted an evening of sketches, the telling of a love story, anecdotes, harp music and short stories.

The evening brought together seasoned readers and new readers, with the aim of sharing the love of books and reading. The council participates in World Book Night annually, committed to reaching people who don’t regularly read, and with this in mind the library gave away free copies of books chosen to appeal to and inspire people who have not yet discovered the sheer joy of reading.
