ARGYLL and Bute Council is getting ready to welcome a very special mystery guest on Sunday 23 September – the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Mascot.

The mascot’s identity will remain secret until its unveiling on Thursday 20 September – so people in Argyll and Bute will be among the first to greet it in person on one of its earliest public appearances.

Lochgilphead will be the destination for the mascot, which will pay a visit to the MacQueen Brothers Mid Argyll Triathlon in the town on Sunday 23 September.

The triathlon, in its eleventh year, is a popular fixture on the national events calendar and attracts competitors from all over Scotland. This year there is once again a full entry of 150 in both the team and individual sections.

The mascot’s visit to Argyll and Bute is part of the Games for Scotland programme of events managed by EventScotland and designed to inspire and involve the people of Scotland in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

As part of the national programme,  Argyll and Bute Council is planning a series of challenges and events in October and November.

Be part of Scotland’s sporting history and be one of the first to meet the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Mascot. Come along to Mid Argyll Community Swimming Pool, Lochgilphead on Sunday 23 September between 11am and 3pm.
