FAMILIES in the Oban area have a sparkling evening to look forward to this Saturday, November 3, with the Oban Community Bonfire.

This free family event promises lots of fun with music, food, fancy dress and lantern competitions and, of course, the warm glow of a community bonfire.  If all this wasn’t enough, there will even be free glow sticks on offer!

Argyll and Bute Council leader Roddy McCuish is due to compere and cast an expert eye over the entries in the turnip and pumpkin lantern competition.

Starting at Mossfield blaise pitch in Oban at 7pm, the fiery fun continues until 8.15pm and offers the ideal opportunity for families to enjoy themselves at a well-organised and safe event – without spending a fortune on fireworks.

Argyll and Bute Council’s Lead Councillor for Oban, Lorn and the Isles Louise Glen-Lee said:  “There’s nothing like a community event – and a good bonfire – to warm the cockles of your heart! This promises to be a fantastic family event and I hope that children of all ages and sizes in the Oban and Lorn area are looking forward to a great evening.”
