Staff and visitors to Argyll and Bute Council’s headquarters in Kilmory can now visit the award winning Kilmory Staff Restaurant following its recent healthyliving accolade.

The Kilmory Staff Restaurant catering employees have been making changes to the range of food on offer and how the meals and snacks are prepared to make sure that healthy choices are available for staff and visitors.  This is in response for increasing demand for better, healthier food.

The healthyliving award is a national award for the Scottish foodservice sector that recognises caterers can play an important role in influencing what their customers eat, and rewards those who are making it easier for their customers to eat more healthily.

The award criteria are based on the general principles of a healthy balanced diet and have been developed to be in keeping with Scottish dietary targets.

Head of Facilities Services Malcolm MacFadyen said, “I am delighted that the council has received this award.  The healthyliving award is not about removing choice but making sure that there is a range of healthy alternatives available every day.  The healthyliving certification is awarded for a two year period and during that time our catering staff will be working to continue to improve the selection of healthy options available.”
