Rothesay Leisure Pool on Bute will close for major refurbishment and improvement works after business on Thursday (1st March).
It is hoped that the revamped facility will re-open to the public in mid-June.
The planned work includes repairs to the roof and tiling in the pool, creating a new gym, relocating and renewing the health suite and a new steam room. The lockers will also be replaced.
During the time the pool is closed, the gym will move to the ground floor of Rothesay Pavilion. This arrangement will be operational from Monday, March 5 during normal pool hours.
Bute councillor Len Scoullar said: “The refurbishment is essential to secure the future of this important facility on the island, and users will see many welcome improvements when it re-opens its doors later in the year.
“Among the key improvements will be a brand new gym, a relocated sauna, a new steam room, and an altogether brighter and more welcoming environment.
“I am delighted that we have been able to accommodate the gym and most of the fitness classes in the Pavilion, where both regular and new customers will find the familiar and friendly pool staff on hand to greet and look after them.”
Over the recent months, there has been a significant expansion of the fitness classes programme in Rothesay Leisure Pool and Rothesay Pavilion. There are now 14 classes per week, including Torque indoor cycling and Powerhoop.
Full details of all classes, along with attractive ABC Leisure Club membership packages, are available from the reception desk at Rothesay Pavilion on 01700 504250. The reception is open daily during gym opening hours.
From Monday, March 5, these opening hours will be:
- Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 9am to 7.30pm
- Tuesday and Thursday – 7.30am to 7.30pm
- Saturday and Sunday – 10am to 3pm
