Anyone looking for information about college and university is invited to the Argyll and Bute Higher Education Convention at Lochgilphead Joint Campus on Tuesday 4 September between 0930 and 1330. Senior pupils from all secondary schools in Argyll and Bute have been invited to the free sessions with parents and adults.
It will bring together college and university representatives from across the UK under one roof and has been organised in association with the University and College Admissions Service (UCAS). More than 25 organisations will provide information and advice to prospective students and their parents. Most Scottish universities, some local colleges as well as many others from other parts of the UK will be on hand with information on courses, accommodation and funding.
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) careers advisers will also be on hand to provide impartial, one-on-one, advice and information but even for those who cannot attend on the day, help is still available. The SDS web service My World of Work, www.myworldofwork.co.uk, is available to offer advice, ranging from information on courses and applications to tips on adapting to life on campus.
Lead Councillor for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Breslin, said “It is a major decision to go to college or university and the convention will help answer all the questions people normally have and provide them with the right information to make a choice about their future. I would urge parents to come along to the convention as well so they know more about what is on offer for their children.”
