Sinclair Street car park in Helensburgh will be closed on two Sundays in a row to allow building work at the entrance to be carried out safely.
The car park will close at 8am on Sunday 11 and 18 September so the owners of the building which crosses the entrance can carry out essential repairs to the internal roof spanning the entrance. As soon as the planned works are completed on the day the car park will be re-opened.
Councillor Vivien Dance, chair of the Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee is keen car park users are kept safe. She explains:
“We’re closing the car park for as short a period as possible so we cause the least inconvenience. It’s important that we assist homeowners to carry out vital repairs and keep people safe while the building work is done and the best way to do this is to close the car park completely.
“It’s only for two days and will help make sure we don’t need to close it again in the future. I’m sure people would prefer to park elsewhere for two days than risk injury to themselves or damage to their cars.”
Alternative parking is available in Helensburgh’s other car parks. Many on-street parking restrictions in the area do not apply on Sunday, giving users more options while the car park is closed.
