Argyll and Bute Council has awarded a four year contract for the delivery of all school transport services within the Helensburgh and Lomond area to McColl’s Coaches of Dumbarton.
The new contract is expected to deliver better value for the council by providing a stable pricing mechanism for its duration. Under the terms of this new contract McColl’s Coaches will sub-contract some of the school transport routes to provide a bespoke transport to the pupils of schools in Helensburgh and Lomond.
The coach company will be responsible for managing their sub-contractors, so the council only needs to deal with one operator for school transport across the Helensburgh area. Having one point of contact will allow the council, head teachers, parents and pupils have a single point of contact for all school transport enquiries.
McColl’s Coaches is a family run company formed in 1966, with a long track record in delivering bus services to a wide range of local authorities including West and East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire and North Lanarkshire. It has delivered transport contracts on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council in the past.
The contract will start immediately following the October break in the school term.
