Argyll and Bute Council is continuing the current Ring and Ride Service in Campbeltown while it takes time to make sure that possible alternatives are fit for purpose. The continuation has been agreed with the current operator and one of our officers has been speaking to people on the bus to find out their views. The result of this research will help shape future provision.
The funding the council gave to support the Campbeltown Ring and Ride Service was reduced as one of the savings options accepted by the council in the 2011 budget. However the council is mindful of the needs of Campbeltown’s most vulnerable residents and will take as much as time as is needed to make sure it fully considers the impact of changes on them.
Spokesperson for Third Sector and Communities, Councillor Rory Colville said “We are responding to the concerns of the people who need this service most. It will continue in its current form for as long as it takes to make an informed decision about changes and we will make people aware of what will be provided in the future. We need to make sure any changes are made safely.”
