Argyll and Bute council’s getting to work on the roads of Oban, Lorn and the Isles. It’s part of the council’s £15.6 million which will be spent improving the road network over the next three years. £7 million has been earmarked for 2011-12.

The A816 from Oban to Lochgilphead will be resurfaced from Moleigh to Kilmore, at Tullich and at Kames Farm by the end of July this year.

The A819 from Dalmally to Inveraray will be resurfaced at several locations and this work will be completed by Friday 8th July.

On Mull there’ll be resurfacing on the A848 from Tobermory to Salen and Salen to Craignure. On the A849 there’ll be resurfacing between Craignure and Fionnphort.

Executive Director of Development and Infrastructure, Sandy Mactaggart, said “this work will make a real difference to the communities of Oban, Lorn and the Isles. Some of the work has already started and will continue over the summer. The council is committed to improving the area’s roads for local people, businesses and tourists.”

U41 – Lochavullin Road Oban – Tesco roundabout – plane out, patch, regulate and resurface – this will take 2 days from Sunday 17th April until Monday 18th April 2011.

B844 – Kilniver to Ellanabeich – structural strengthening and surface dressing (no dates available)
