Argyll and Bute Council’s getting to work on several roads in Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Isles. Its part of the council’s £15.6 million which will be spent improving the road network the next three years. £7 million is earmarked for 2011-2012.

In Mid Argyll the A816 from Lochgilphead to Oban will benefit from the money available. There’ll be resurfacing at Tibertich, North of Kintraw, at Barrananoil and between Cairnbaan and Dunamuck. It’ll take place between now and the end of July.

In Kintyre the A83 from Seal point to Ballochroy will be resurfaced and the road from Westport to Balochantuy will be structurally strengthened.

On Islay the A846 Low road will be resurfaced as will the B8016 High road at Glenegedale and Gartmain.

On Jura the A846 North of Ardfin is getting resurfaced as well.

Executive Director of Development and Infrastructure, Sandy Mactaggart, said “this work will make a real difference to the communities of Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Isles. Some of the work has already started and will continue over the summer. The council is committed to improving the area’s roads for local people, businesses and tourists.”
