Argyll and Bute Council’s getting to work on several roads in Helensburgh and Lomond. It’s part of the council’s £15.6 million which will be spent improving the road network the next three years. £7 million is earmarked for 2011-2012.

There are six roads earmarked for resurfacing work in Helensburgh including Buchanan Road, Colquhoun Street and Glasgow Street. Work will be completed by mid September.

In Lomond four roads in Cardross will be resurfaced by the 1st of July. In Rosneath, Argyll Road has already been fully resurfaced and in Garelochhead, Queens Crescent will be resurfaced by 7TH October.

Executive Director of Development and Infrastructure , Sandy Mctaggart, said “this work will make a real difference to the communities of Helensburgh and Lomond. Some of the work has already started and will continue over the summer. The council is committed to improving the area’s roads for local people, businesses and tourists.”

Buchanan Road, Helensburgh – Athole Street to Ben Bouie Avenue – resurfacing – this will take place over 5 days from 25th July until 29th July.

Stuckleckie Road, Helensburgh – Kirkmichael Road to Ben Bouie Drive – resurfacing – this will take place over 5 days from 1st August until 5th August

Colquhoun Street, Helensburgh – Princes St to King St and W Montrose St to Rossdhu Road – resurfacing – this will take 10 days from 15th August until 26th August

Glasgow Street, Helensburgh – Argyll St to Millig St – resurfacing - this will take 5 days from 29th August until 2nd September

Suffolk Street, Helensburgh – Montrose St to Queen St –resurfacing - this will take 5 days from 5th September until 9th September

West Princes St, Helensburgh – Coulport Place to Fernigair Avenue –resurfacing - this will take 5 days from12th September until 16th September

LOMOND

Peaton Road, Peninsula - resurfacing full length – this will take 10 days from 4th April until 15th April

Argyll Road, Rosneath – resurfacing full length – this will take 5 days from 18th April until 22nd April

Muirend Road – resurfacing full length – this will take 10 days from 25th April until 6th May

Reay Avenue, Cardross – resurfacing full length – this will take 5 days from 23rd May until 27th May

Church Avenue, Cardross – resurfacing full length – this will take 5 days from 30th May until 3rd June

Red Road, Cardross – resurfacing full length – this will take 10 days from 6th June until 17th June

Darlieth Road, Cardross – resurfacing full length – this will take 10 days from 20th June till 1st July

Caldwell Place / Station Road, Rhu – Laggaray Pk to Manse Brae (including 200 m of station road) will take 10 days from 19th September until 30th September

Queens Crescent, Garelochhead – full length resurfacing – this will take 5 days from 3rd October until 7th October.
