New look Bowmore Police Station officially opened on Islay

The newly refurbished and extended Bowmore Police Office on Islay has been officially opened by Councillor Donald MacMillan.

The extension has a cell block with prisoner facilities and the refurbishment means there is a new look office and public counter.

Councillor MacMillan is a member of the Strathclyde Police Authority. He said “I’m extremely proud to open the new look Bowmore police station and have a strong connection with Islay as my parents were born on the island. I believe the investment in local policing will improve the service to the local community”

The ceremony was hosted by Strathclyde Police Chief Constable Stephen House.
