A rising number of people are using Argyll and Bute Council’s website to pay for council tax, school meals, planning application charges and other accounts. In June 2010 the income from the website was more than £60,000 and this June it has risen to £100,000. That’s an increase of nearly 70%.
In June this year (2011) most payments were for council tax. It is also possible to pay non-domestic rates, invoices, commercial refuse and blue badges using most major credit or debit cards.
Leader of Argyll and Bute Council and Spokesperson for Leadership and the Economy, Councillor Dick Walsh said “I’m delighted people are making good use of the website. I use it myself and find it very simple and easy. It saves me time, payments can be made at any time of the day or night and it is secure. You can get an email receipt if you ask for one. I’d encourage people to make payments on our website at www.argyll-bute.gov.uk”
In the future there’ll be the chance to do much more on the website including requesting recycling and wheelie bins, reporting fly tipping and dog fouling, reporting roads and lighting faults and paying car parking fines.
