New Political Composition

Argyll and Bute Council has a new political composition, following the formation of ‘The Argyll and Bute Independent Councillors’ group comprising councillors George Freeman and Gordon Chalmers.

The composition of the council is now:

  • Alliance of Independent Councillors – 13
  • Scottish National Party – 9
  • Liberal Democrats – 6
  • Argyll First – 3
  • Scottish Conservative and Unionist – 2
  • The Argyll and Bute Independent Councillors Group – 2
  • Other Councillors (not members of any political group) – 1

Please note: the Alliance of Independent Councillors,  the Liberal Democrats and Conservative groups formed a partnership for the purposes of the political administration of the council.
