Emergency services from across the area will descend on Oban Airport this Saturday (29 January) but there’s no need for anyone to worry.

The airport will be the focus of a training event, designed to test the sites’ response to a genuine emergency.

Representatives from the police, fire, NHS and SEPA will join airport and council officials as they conduct a mock accident, allowing all of the partner organisations to test and fine-tune their reaction to a real emergency.

The airport must test its emergency procedures routinely, as a condition of its licence for the Civil Aviation Authority.

The training event will take place on Saturday 29 January between 11am and 2pm. Visitors to Oban on Saturday afternoon may notice more emergency vehicles in the area than usual as a result of the exercise.
