Campbeltown’s Christmas window competition was a great success, with The Yorkshire Building Society/Property Shop beating 52 other businesses to the top spot.  The competition was funded by Argyll and Bute Council and The Islands Leader.

The event aimed to promote Campbeltown and its businesses, encourage community spirit and increase footfall in the town centre.

Leaflets were widely distributed marketing the competition as a walking tour for families, and voting slips were made available.  There were around 500 votes cast.

Town Centre Manager Aileen MacLennan, who organised the event, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone for their fantastic efforts.  This was a great opportunity for Campbeltown’s businesses to really show off, and their creative displays attracted more shoppers to the area.  The feedback I’ve received to date has been extremely positive and encouraging, both from people within Campbeltown and from further afield”.

The winners were presented with a cheque for £100 by Susan Paterson, chairperson of the South Kintyre Area Development Group, which kindly agreed to sponsor the event.
