Helensburgh’s annual bonfire and fireworks display will take place on the pier car park again this year. And, the Helensburgh and Lomond area committee decided at their meeting yesterday (Tuesday 23 August), the council will once more not charge organisers for the use of the car park.
The display, which is hosted by the Helensburgh and Lomond District Round Table, attracts people from across the whole of the Helensburgh and Lomond area. Helensburgh pier is a great location for the display because it is in the centre of the town and provides a fantastic backdrop.
Speaking after the meeting Chair of the Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee Councillor Vivien Dance said, “I am delighted that we are supporting the Round Table again this year by giving them use of the car park. All the money raised on the night will go towards the good causes the organisation supports and on behalf of the community I would like to thank the Round Table for their efforts each year in bringing this spectacle to the centre of the town. I really hope that as many people as possible support this event and make sure that it goes with a bang!”
The car park will be closed to the public from 5.00pm on Friday 4 November and will open again late morning on Sunday 6 November.
