The event, which will take place on Saturday 18th December, will see Santas of all ages and abilities taking part in a 3k fun run in aid of a local charity.
The participants will leave Aqualibrium at 10am before making their way up Main Street and along Meadows Avenue. Singing as they go, the jolly Santas will then head down the Big Kiln and up Longrow.
The final stretch will see the Santas running along Lochend Street and back to Aqualibrium, where they will be presented with a unique medal for their efforts before enjoying some well deserved mince pies and hot chocolate.
The Santa Dash has been organised by Argyll and Bute Council’s Town Centre Manager for Campbeltown, Aileen MacLennan, in partnership with Lindsay Ramsay from Active Schools and Fiona Irwin of the Wee Toon Runners/Aqualibrium.
Aileen said: “This is a first for Campbeltown and we hope to attract as many people as possible. The event is family-friendly and is open to all ages and abilities. Whether you want to come along with the kids or on your own, the emphasis on the day is all about having fun and getting into the Christmas spirit. People can even walk the route if they choose and pushchairs are welcome.
“I would point out, however, that places are on a first come, first serve basis so get your entry form in as soon as possible.”
The price is £7 for adults and £5 for children under 16. This includes a Santa suit. The price for children in primary two and under is £2.50 and includes a Santa hat.
Application forms are available from Aqualibrium and the deadline for entries is Saturday 4th December 2010. Santa suits will then be available for collection from Aqualibrium between 10am and 12noon on Saturday 11th December.
This event is funded by Argyll and Bute Council, Argyll and the Islands Leader and the Wee Toon Runners.
