Argyll and Bute Council has welcomed news from Scottish Government, announcing potential grant funding support to build a stand-alone  replacement of Campbeltown Grammar School. The council has campaigned strongly over a number of years for support to replace the school which, is regarded as one of the poorest school properties in Scotland. The building is more than 40 years old.

The Scottish Government has announced an in-principle approval to the replacement of the secondary school, with the potential of grant assistance of up to  two thirds of the costs of the new facility. The council will now discuss the proposal with the Scottish Government to understand the conditions of the offer and the timescales it is expected to work to in bringing forward detailed proposals.
