The UHI Project was established in 1992 with the aim of creating a University which would reach the smallest communities in remote regions. In 2001 the project was designated as a higher education institute and currently has in the region of 5000 students throughout the Highlands and Islands offering in excess of 100 Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses.
