The first formal
meeting of the Integration Joint Board (IJB) was held on the 18th August 2015.
The formation of the IJB was a key element in the legislation introduced by the
Scottish Government. From 1st April 2016 the IJB formally took over responsibility
for health and social care planning and delivery.
The Scottish Government legislation also laid out that the membership of the
IJB should include equal participation from NHS Highland and Argyll and Bute
Council to ensure joint decision making and accountability. The IJB also has a
range of other members representing various stakeholder groups including staff,
third sector, service users and the independent sector.
