DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Minutes:

Dugald Cameron declared a non-financial interest in item 8(a) of this Minute as he is a member of Oban Gaelic Choir.  He left the room and took no part in the discussion of this item.

 

Marri Malloy confirmed that in relation to item 9(a) of this Minute, she was involved in writing the constitution for the Soroba Young Families Group in 2005 where her name is printed, but since then has had no involvement with the Group.  She left the room and took no part in the discussion of this item.

Oban Common Good Fund – 27th August 2015

Minutes:

The Minutes of the Oban Common Good Fund meeting held on 27th August 2015 were approved as a correct record.

 

In relation to page 2, item 4, the Area Governance Manager handed out a new logo, designed by the Council’s Communications Team, for the Trustees to consider.  The Trustees suggested that lighting on the logo at McCaig’s Tower or for the view to be facing out of McCaig’s Tower rather than inside it would be recommended.  The Area Governance Manager agreed to go back to the Communication Team with the suggestions made and email the new design to Trustees before the next meeting for their consideration.

 

In relation to page 1, item 4, the Chair asked if the new model template for applications had been completed and was being sent out to applicants.  The Area Governance Manager confirmed that process was now in place.

Minutes:

The Trustees received a thank you email from the Hope Kitchen, thanking the Oban Common Good Fund for the £3,000 which will help deliver more services to their users.

 

Decision

 

The Trustees noted the information provided.

The Council resolved in terms of Section 50(A)(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 to exclude the press and public for the following 5 items of business on the grounds that it was likely to involve the disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraphs 6 respectively of Part 1 of Schedule 7A to the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973.

ACTUAL INCOME EXPENDITURE REPORT

Minutes:

A financial statement detailing the current position of investment transaction for the period 1st April to 31st October 2015 was considered.

 

Decision

 

The Trustees noted the information provided and thanked the Senior Area Committee Assistant for updating all information with the bank accounts which took up to 6 weeks to be completed and for writing to the applicants from the August meeting to update them on the situation.

OUTSTANDING COMMITMENTS

Minutes:

The Trustees noted the outstanding commitments to date and noted that there is one outstanding commitment to the Oban Common Good Fund to Oban Winter Festival of £1,000 potential underwrite.

Oban Gaelic Choir

Minutes:

The Trustees considered an application from Oban Gaelic Choir.

 

The Chair asked if there has been any information provided in relation to Oban Gaelic Choir applying to other organisations for funding or any details on how they will make the remaining amount of funding.  The Area Governance Manager confirmed that Oban Gaelic Choir have a raffle, a soup lunch and a dance organised to raise money and that the members of the choir would also pay their own contribution.

 

Decision

 

The Trustees agreed to disperse £3,000.

MacAulay Camanachd Association

Minutes:

The Trustees considered an application from the MacAulay Camanachd Association.

 

Decision

 

The Trustees:-

 

1.    Agreed that the project identified in the application could be delivered without support from the Oban Common Good Fund and agreed that the MacAulay Association be thanked for their support for the project;

2.    Noted that a wider partnership scheme with the MacAulay Association, local representatives and the Council could be developed to look at improvements at Mossfield, and if required, submit an application to the February meeting of the Oban Common Good Fund.

Soroba Young Families Group

Minutes:

The Trustees considered an amended application and email from Soroba Young Families Group.

 

Councillor N MacIntyre updated the Trustees on the meeting he attended with members of Soroba Young Families Group and the details of what they required funding for.

 

Decision

 

The Trustees agreed to disperse £3,366.

10.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING

Minutes:

The next Oban Common Good Fund meeting is scheduled for Thursday 18th February 2016 at 10:30am in the Corran Halls, Oban.

 

It was agreed that the Senior Area Committee Assistant would email possible dates to the Trustees for the remaining meetings in 2016.
